A way to bring a bit of gold into Linda Fargo's silver look.

Kate Spade LookBook

The Kate Spade lookbook for Summer 2011 is out, just another thing to drool over. What do you think of Kate Spade's new 'spade' logo? I think it is exactly what you would expect from Kate Spade, but a tad uninspired.

See below for a look at some totes coming soon! (plus the binocular necklace, which I am DYING to order)

Recent Reads

I recently listed a book list that I was attempting to get through this 2011 since I am out of school for the first time in my life (for longer than four months). I have finished the first two books on the list, Julie and Julia, as well as Mansfield Park, and am now on to Northanger Abbey. Yes, I am on a Jane Austen kick. Granted, it took some getting into and I struggled through the first couple of chapters in Mansfield Park before I became completely addicted. Tonight I'm baking brownies and reading, as well as doing laundry, enjoying my day off (although I did groceries earlier today and that somewhat diminished my enjoyment of the day). Also, on a happier note, the deep freeze is over! Today was a balmy minus ten or so, pure bliss!

Daily Bread, Tourist Edition

Friday I threw on my long johns and parka (and about four shirts) and went down to the Rideau Canal and Parliament with my boyfriend here in Ottawa. We felt like tourists as we snapped pictures and posed in the snow, checked out parliament and watched the skaters along the Canal. Highlights of the day would have to be the hot chocolates and beavertail we enjoyed down on the ice and watching some ice fishers out on the lake towards Gatineau.

To brave the cold for several hours here in the Great White North I bundled up in my favourite cold weather gear. I wear DeFeet Wollie Boolie Socks, TNA thermal knit leggings from Aritzia, Gap 1969 Forever Skinny jeans, a Gap black ribbed tank, a grey thermal waffle, and a red plaid flannel TNA button up.

Favourite Website

I've been obsessed with Design*Sponge for a few years now, especially with the 'Living In' column as well as the before and after room and furniture make-overs. A 'Living in The Big Lebowski' was just done and all I can say is that the dude abides. Be sure to check out my giveaway right now for some great beauty items and clothes!

Golden Globes Catch Up

Just wanted to share a few of my favourite gowns from last night and my favourite suit of the night, worn by Gordon Joseph Levitt, my celeb crush.

Angelina Jolie, who showed up with the hottest accessory of the night (Brad Pitt anyone?), looked stunning! I normally hate on her a bit so this takes a lot but I just loved the gown, the waist, the sequin, and the colour. Atelier Versace is responsible for this look, Ferragamo for the shoes, which were sadly hidden most of the night.
Anne Hathaway looked lovely last night in her Giorgio Armani Prive backless dress, so lovely in fact I considered not posting a photo out of jealousy but good taste in fashion overrode these feelings.
Claire Danes, where have you been hiding all this time? I feel as though I haven't seen her in years so I was very pleased when she crawled out from underneath whatever rock she was under and she came out looking so svelte and lean in her Calvin Klein dress! Bravo Claire!
Diana Agron, again from Glee, looked a vision in her old Hollywood inspired J. Mendel gown. Plus her hair and make up was flawless!

Elizabeth Moss really surprised me last night in her Donna Karan gown because for the first time I think that I saw her appeal. She has always struck me as a bit homely so I was very impressed last night as green really was the colour to choose.

Gordon Joseph Levitt is a hunk, who incidentally, looks amazing in suits. Inception anyone?

Jennifer Love Hewitt is a face I never thought would be on this blog but she looked so great, I was so surprised at how well she is put together. I even love the up-do which forcibly reminds me of SJP in  the SATC episode where Charlotte and Trey get married. The gown, which features an oh so sweet crumb catcher,  is Romona Keveza.
Kaley Cuoco, of my favourite sitcom The Big Bang Theory, gets an honourable mention here. I wish she hadn't worn her hair up but her gown is beautiful and I love the pale pink tiers! She wore a lesser known designer, Katharine Kidd.
Lea Michelle, a favourite of mine from Glee, wore a Oscar de la Renta gown that was very young and feminine, just the right style for her.
Mila Kunis looked stunning in an emerald Vera Wang gown, which was custom made in four days! Very impressive for the star to have had a custom gown, I think her fashion star is rising.

Tron's Olivia Wilde looked amazing last night in her jewel encrusted Marchesa gown. 'It looked like the sky' was the comment my boyfriend made.

Golden Globes

Right now I'm sitting on my couch, in my jogging pants, sipping my tea and eating chocolates, taking in all of the beautiful celebs at the Golden Globes this year and their amazing dresses. The red carpet was lit up tonight with sequins, sparkles and colour, everyone was trying to stand out a little more than everyone else and the effect made me wish it was summer so badly. Also, how great was it to see Christian Bale win for 'the Fighter?' I just watched the movie last night, it blew me away. His performance as a crack addicted trainer was moving and so real. Hope you are enjoying the award show too readers!

P.S. Angelina Jolie is to die for tonight! That green dress is such a breath of fresh air. She must have heard me shouting at her through the TV the last five or so award shows that she has worn black to.

New Format

Hello loyal readers,

Hope you enjoy this new format for the blog. It is the first time I have changed the look of the blog since I began blogging a few years ago. I may tinker around with the look a little bit but for now I am really liking the look of red and grey scales. Stay tuned for tomorrow when I announce my very first giveaway!

The Kennedys

A little while back I shared a few photos of the mini series 'The Kennedys' and gave a few initial thoughts. The official trailer of the show has just been released and the show looks phenomenal. Greg Kinnear is not JFK, but has a good likeness, as does Katie Holmes with Jackie. The art direction looks great, costumes look just right, and the mannerisms are spot on. Apparently this show is causing a controversy and the Kennedys (notably Caroline and Maria Shriver) are lobbying the History Channel not to air it in the US but regardless are showing it in Canada. Pretty great eh?

See the trailer here!

New Job

I started my new job yesterday at the St. Laurent Gap in Ottawa. I was sad to leave all my old friends in London but excited to meet some new people. I had also been off work for ten days so I was glad to be back to check out the spring/summer line which is beautiful, so many pastels and nautical prints. See some of the new looks below!
